When creating an inventory item, you can set a number of parameters that affect how the system uses the item. For example, you can specify whether the item is a text or value item (item category A or B) and if the system should perform weight calculations and pricing on these items. You can also select a checkbox that indicates whether this item should be included in the calculation of delivery groups.
The system determines the number of schedule lines to create for a value or text item based on its type and the quantity of other items included in the group. It also calculates the total weight of the shipment. The default value for this indicator is X, which indicates that the system should not form delivery groups.
You can also set up catalog items, which are similar to regular inventory items but can only be sold to customers and do not require that a company manage them in its warehouses until they are sold.
