While many practices and schools have returned to normal operations, there are still many lingering effects of the pandemic. Some of these will be lasting, and may have an impact on future patient care. For example, some dentists may not offer certain services, as they have had to adopt strict infection control procedures during the pandemic. Other adjustments will likely be more short-term, as clinicians adapt to new government regulations and shortages of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other supplies. In either case, it is important for prospective patients to choose a dentist with whom they feel comfortable discussing their questions and concerns, and who is willing to make any necessary adjustments. This will ensure that the best care is provided to patients during and after their visit. This is an essential step in ensuring a high level of professional standards and ethical practice.
